Dispatcher Per the requirements of a federal contract and in line with our mission, we must employ an individual with a disability in this position. Provide 911-type response and dispatching services as part of an ARC contract at the Defense Supply Center Richmond. Overnight, weekend and evening shifts available; on-call positions also available. Monitor radio system, police and fire alarms, closed-circuit TV (CCTV) monitors; answer radio transmissions and phone calls Dispatch appropriate police, fire and EMS units in a timely fashion based on information provided by telephone, supervisors, visual assessments, radio transmissions or walk-ins; maintain records/logs of activity Must be able to pass a thorough background and credit check (no criminal history, no bankruptcies) Wellness Consultant Prt-time Contractor position To research, develop, implement and support wellness efforts for the ARC by: Identifying target areas for wellness initiatives to increase both client and staff wellness Making recommendations and designs and documents programs to reduce health risks and enhance client development throughout various programs Effectively training direct care staff to implement and support wellness activities, including how to measure progress and modify activities for individuals with more severe disabilities Encouraging, motivating, and educating participants to make healthy lifestyle changes to improve high risk areas Inspiring clients and staff to attain goals and pursue excellence EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BS in therapeutic recreation or other health-related field required. Proven ability to gather and analyze data from multiple sources to find workable solutions to issues. 1-2 years of relevant experience with adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Direct Care Providers Camp Baker -- After School Counselors(M-F 1-6pm; all day when schools closed, including summer) and Adult Day Support roles (M-F 8am - 4pm); Full-time Respite position (Sun - Thurs 3-11pm) Multiple opportunities for experienced direct care providers. Duties include leading individual and group activities, providing personal care and creating a safe, fun and learning-focused environment for our clients. Experience as a care provider, educator or aide for individuals (adults or children) with disabilities CNA certification, therapeutic recreation or special education background desired Must have good driving record and be willing to transport clients in agency vehicles. Summer Day Camp Counselor 2 positions available -- working at area YMCA's -- mid-June through end of August Full-time positions for the summer (Monday through Friday) to serve as a counselor, providing support and direction for the campers in the areas of personal care, communication, activities of daily living and participation in camp activities: Attends daily summer camp program with the designated camper(s). Assists and supports campers in the completion of activities of daily living (dressing, bathing, eating, personal hygiene) as needed. Supervises campers during activities, water activities and rest periods. Facilitates the camper’s participation in all activities by energetic activity participation as a staff member. Participates in staff orientation program prior to the start of camp, as needed. Serves as a positive role model for campers, and practices positive and effective communication skills with staff and families; provides updates to camper’s parents and staff. A minimum of 1-2 years of college preferred. Experience in the areas of special education, psychology, recreation or with special populations preferred. Experience working in a paid position or in a volunteer capacity in a summer camp environment preferred. Production Trainer
Full-time employment at our Westwood Avenue location providing supervision and direction for production workers with disabilities; setting up work, monitoring tasks and driving towards goal completion. Common production projects include hand assembly, packaging/re-packaging, bulk mail and electrical board assembly. Previous production experience required, supervisory or lead-worker experience desired Previous experience supporting people with disabilities desired Able to lift 50 pounds Must provide DMV record Computer literate Speech Language Pathologist Full- and part-time positions available! Experienced professionals responsible for providing direct speech therapy services, support and education to children and families as part of a family-centered therapy model. Proficiency in the specialty of pediatric speech language pathology and knowledge of the latest techniques relative to this specialty area of therapy Master’s degree or greater in Speech Language Pathology with at least one year of professional experience and VA state licensure Summer Camp Counselors All applicants must be aged 18+. We are looking for a few creative staff members who are willing to share their ideas and to invest their time and energy at Camp Baker. Staff are hired from a large geographic area of the United States and from many foreign countries as well. ACTIVITY COUNSELORS Dance, Swimming, Nature, Sports, Arts and Crafts, Horseback Riding, Music and more. Experience working with special populations in these specialty areas a plus.
